Reviewing Key Labor Market Indicators in the Western Balkans

Ms. Monika Schwarzhappel from the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies will present on the Jobs Gateway in South Eastern Europe database collected from national statistical offices of the six Western Balkan countries and four comparator countries (Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Austria), with the objective of harmonizing data across countries. The database covers a unique and detailed set of labor market indicators based on Labor Force Survey (LFS) data for the Western Balkan countries. The database covers four parts: (i) Key economic indicators, (ii) Labor market indicators, (iii) Labor market data on a sub-national level and (iv) Data on earnings and unit labor costs.
The database is available on the Jobs Gateway in South Eastern Europe Community of Practice, a platform for policy makers, academics and experts from international organizations with a focus on labor market policies in the Western Balkans. It is available at https://www.seejobsgateway.net/.
Monika will also demonstrate how the database can be used, from obtaining basic graphs to accessing the data for further analysis. The presentation will then be followed by an online discussion in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
